Get Involved

The Welcoming Tennessee Initiative is committed to better understanding the contributions that immigrants make to our state and the effects of immigration on our communities, and to challenge common myths and stereotypes. If you support Tennessee’s growing cultural diversity, and would like to uphold Tennessee’s tradition as a warm and welcoming state, we invite you to join the Welcoming Tennessee Initiative (WTI).

There are many ways in which you can contribute to the success of the Welcoming Tennessee Initiative. Examples of actions you can take include the following:

Join Your Local WTI Committee

A Welcoming Committee is a group of local volunteers who commit their time and efforts to make their community more welcoming. These groups provide space for community members to discuss local issues, receive training, coordinate events, and plan Welcoming Campaigns. There are currently committees in Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Murfreesboro.

Start a Welcoming Committee

If there is not a Welcoming Committee in your area, start one! WTI can provide you with the training, resources, and support needed to build a committee in your community.

Become a Welcoming Ambassador

Ambassadors are key to the Welcoming Tennessee Initiative. These volunteer leaders serve their local communities by hosting conversations, organizing educational opportunities, and most importantly being a resource and spokesperson on behalf of Tennessee's newest neighbors. If you are interested in becoming a trained Welcoming Ambassador, join WTI today!

Contribute Financially

As a nonprofit initiative, WTI needs financial support from you in order to thrive! Donations to Welcoming Tennessee are used solely for Welcoming projects, including mini-documentaries about Tennessee's immigrant communities, Welcoming presentations across the state, cultural awareness training for hospitals, corporations, and local businesses, as well as billboards and radio PSA's. Your generous support ensures that there is a voice making sure that Tennessee remains a welcoming state for our New American neighbors.
